Infection

Infection is the second Exo Zombies map (Ascendance DLC) — a suburban Atlas outbreak around a Burger Town restaurant, its sewers, and the Value Voltage and Atlas Command districts. Its long, comedic main quest MEAT IS MURDER builds a special burger (a blood-charged golden pan, four cooked meat pieces, a dropped bun), feeds it to the mascot robot Bubby, then restores Bubby with a charged battery and two tablets to launch the Atlas rockets — using an Insta-Gator alligator trap to harvest a biometric fingerprint arm along the way.

Quick answers

How do you complete the Infection Easter egg?

It is rated Medium and takes about 35–55 min. The run breaks down like this:
  1. Round-based survival for 1-4 players, fully solo-capable; a long (45–75 min) main quest, MEAT IS MURDER, that ends with an Atlas rocket launch rather than a boss.
  2. Same Exo systems as Outbreak: Exo Suit (boost/dodge/slam), per-room local power, the rotating 3D Printer, the Mark weapon-upgrade station, EMZ shock enemies, and infection → Decontamination-Zone timer.
  3. The Magnetron (from the 3D Printer) is the quest weapon — it cooks each raw meat piece on the golden pan until an audible completion ding; it's awkward for general survival, so keep a strong conventional primary too.
  4. The burger build is a search-and-cook loop: get the golden pan from the spawn rooftop (Exo Suit required), open the waterfall chamber via four orange valves, blood-charge the pan on its altar, then find and cook one meat piece in each of the four districts.
  5. Carry only one meat piece at a time and confirm it's on the grill before hunting the next — and note the finished burger infects its carrier, so have a clear route to the sewer decontamination pad ready.
  6. Map-specific hazards/systems: the Insta-Gator alligator (kills players and zombies; deliberately used to obtain the fingerprint arm), periodic rescue/evacuation events (defend or eat a map-wide penalty), and Bubby the mascot who accepts the burger/battery/tablet.
  7. Special enemies: EMZ shock zombies and infected Hosts; expect long defence steps (blood altar, battery charge, rocket sequence).
Each stage is written out in full — with the exact locations, the order things must be done in and what to do when a step refuses to trigger — in the walkthrough below.

What is the Wonder Weapon on Infection?

Magnetron. How you get hold of it — the parts, the crafting steps and the upgrade if it has one — is covered step by step in the walkthrough, along with whether it is required for the main quest or simply worth the detour.

How long does the Infection Easter egg take?

About 35–55 min for a run that already knows the steps, and we rate it Medium. A first attempt takes considerably longer — almost all of the time goes on setup rather than the finale, so knowing the order in advance is what shortens a run.

Can you do the Infection Easter egg solo?

Players: 1–4 (solo-capable). It is solo-capable. Co-op mainly helps with the timed steps, where a second player can hold a zombie or cover a second position, and it makes the ending far more forgiving.

Is there a song Easter egg on Infection?

Yes — “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor”. Interact with three hidden toy rockets in any order — Value Voltage (shelf facing the Weapon Upgrade Station), Atlas Command (ground right of Exo Slam) and Burger Town (rooftop, in the fence opening near the giant burger). The third starts Full trigger steps for it are in the side Easter eggs section.

What are the main areas on Infection?

6 are documented: Spawn / Hoard More, Atlas Command, Value Voltage, Burger Town, Sewers and Valve Chamber. Knowing the names matters more than it sounds — most guides, including this one, describe locations by area name rather than by direction.

How many side Easter eggs are on Infection?

5 are documented here — quest weapon, ally, song, mechanic and system. Each one has its own steps rather than a one-line mention, so they can be followed mid-game.

When was Infection released?

31 Mar 2015.

Spawn; the cracked rooftop holding the golden frying pan (needs the Exo Suit) and the biometric fingerprint scanner + safe.

Atlas Command

A meat district, the Bubby battery schematic/compartment, and a toy-rocket song tool.

Value Voltage

A meat district, the battery charging station, and a toy-rocket song tool.

Burger Town

The mascot Bubby, the golden-pan grill, the giant burger sign/terminal, a meat district and a toy-rocket tool.

Sewers

The pipe network + four orange valves, the waterfall blood-altar chamber, the decontamination pad and the Insta-Gator trap.

Valve Chamber

The randomized orange valves that open the hidden waterfall passage for the golden pan.

Steps at a glance

One piece at a time. A player can hold only one meat piece — search a district, cook that piece to the ding, then move on, or you'll lose track of which areas are done. And the finished burger infects whoever carries it: clear the sewer approach and keep points for the decontamination pad before you assemble it, or the carrier dies to the infection timer.

1
Spawn rooftop → Sewers

Golden pan + open the waterfall chamber

+

With the Exo Suit, boost onto the cracked spawn rooftop and take the golden frying pan. Search the connected sewer pipe network for four orange valves and turn all four to open the waterfall passage into the hidden lower chamber.

  • Golden pan collected
  • All four orange valves turned — chamber open
2
Waterfall chamber → Burger Town

Blood-charge the pan and mount it

+

Place the pan on the altar in the lower chamber and kill zombies inside the chamber until it fills and the state change confirms. Retrieve it and install it on the Burger Town grill.

  • Pan blood-charged on the altar
  • Pan installed on the Burger Town grill
3
All four districts

Cook four meat pieces with the Magnetron

+

Get the Magnetron from the 3D Printer. Find one meat piece in each district — Atlas Command, Value Voltage, Sewers and Burger Town (each has a pool of possible spawn spots) — and for each, place it on the golden pan and hold Magnetron fire until the cooking ding. Do the four one at a time.

  • Atlas Command meat cooked
  • Value Voltage meat cooked
  • Sewers meat cooked
  • Burger Town meat cooked
4
Burger Town → Sewer decon pad → Bubby

Build the burger, cleanse it, feed Bubby

+

Kill a Burger Town-uniform zombie for the dropped bun — it's collected automatically by walking over it (there's no interact prompt, so don't stand on it pressing use) — and it completes the cooked meat into the burger. Take the finished burger and immediately run to the sewer decontamination pad (the carrier is now infected), cleanse both burger and player, then deliver the safe burger to Bubby.

  • Bun added (uniform-zombie drop)
  • Burger + player decontaminated
  • Burger delivered to Bubby
5
Atlas Command → Value Voltage → Bubby

Restore Bubby's battery

+

Interact with the Bubby schematic in one Atlas Command building, then quickly reach the other Command/generator building to grab the battery from its briefly-open box. Carry it to the Value Voltage charger, start the charge and defend it (reinsert it if it's knocked out); once fully charged, give it to Bubby.

  • Battery compartment opened + battery taken
  • Battery fully charged and returned to Bubby
6
Giant burger → Insta-Gator → spawn safe

Fingerprint arm → red tablet → rockets

+

Take Bubby's key, climb into the giant Burger Town sign and use the terminal (first attempt = Access Denied, setting up the biometric route). At the sewer Insta-Gator trap, let the alligator grab a zombie and shoot the exposed gator until it drops the severed arm. Use the arm on the spawn fingerprint scanner, take the red tablet from the safe, and install it in the giant-burger terminal to begin the Atlas rocket sequence.

  • Bubby key used (Access Denied)
  • Insta-Gator fingerprint arm collected
  • Red tablet installed — rocket sequence started
7
Giant burger → Bubby

Blue tablet and finish

+

After the launch, return to the giant burger and take the blue tablet from beneath the screen. Give it to Bubby — he fights alongside the team for about a round, then explodes into four power-ups, completing the quest.

  • Blue tablet collected and given to Bubby
  • Bubby fought + exploded into power-ups (quest complete)

Side Easter Eggs & extras

Everything beyond the main quest. Tap any entry to open the full how-and-where breakdown.

Quest weapon

Magnetron

+

From the 3D Printer; a microwave-emitter that's the only tool that cooks the four meat pieces on the golden pan. Situational for survival — hold fire on the meat until the ding, but carry a real primary for everything else.

Ally

Bubby

+

The Burger Town mascot robot: accepts the burger, the charged battery and the blue tablet, then briefly fights alongside the team before exploding into four power-ups at the end of the quest.

Song

“Toccata and Fugue in D Minor”

+

Interact with three hidden toy rockets in any order — Value Voltage (shelf facing the Weapon Upgrade Station), Atlas Command (ground right of Exo Slam) and Burger Town (rooftop, in the fence opening near the giant burger). The third starts the track.

Mechanic

Insta-Gator

+

The sewer alligator kills players and zombies — but it's how you get the biometric fingerprint arm: let it grab a zombie, then shoot the exposed gator until it releases the arm. Otherwise stay off the water's edge.

System

Weapon Upgrade Station (Marks)

+

As on Outbreak, each purchase raises the held weapon one Mark toward the Mk20 standard; keep points in reserve for the decontamination pad and emergencies rather than emptying the bank on Printer rolls.
